About

Hello, I'm Gÿps and I'm a Tasmanian visual artist and musician. Nature is my biggest inspiration, and this is reflected through my passion for ethical & mindful living and my creative ventures as an artist. I live in one of the most beautiful parts of the world, Tasmania, Australia - surrounded by wild and wonderful wilderness, with my two cats, a cheeky golden retriever & my best friend/fiancé.

Ever since I was a little girl I have craved freedom & creativity and this has been prominent throughout my life. I have completed a Diploma of Graphic Design and a Bachelor of Contemporary Arts, majoring in painting. I have been a self employed creative for 6 years now, working in the music industry and as a freelance graphic designer and artist. Like many others, in early 2020 I lost all of my work due to the global situation, but took it as an opportunity to focus inward on what I'm truly passionate about, which is painting. I am now working on my upcoming collection and exhibition whilst also creating commissioned pieces.

My painting style is a mixture of 60s and 70s nostalgia with bohemian inspired elements, often combing abstract landscapes and the female form. I take inspiration from my travels and experiences in life, and my ever-evolving relationship with the natural world. I use acrylic and oil paints to create pieces fused with earthy nostalgic elements, symbolism, and a bohemian spirit that transports you to a place of freedom and wonder and warm golden days and nights.

Each artwork is individually hand painted, making each piece an original artwork for you to adorn wherever you like.

I acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which I work and live, and recognise their continuing connection to land, water and community. I pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
